Dr. Doug Harris moved to Berryville, Arkansas, a town of about 3800 population, in 1974. It is located in the Northwest corner of the state just east of Eureka Springs and about an hour south of Branson, Missouri. U.S. Highway 62 and Highway 21 intersect on the East edge of town. His grandparents are life-long residents and Doug spent every summer with his grandparents so Berryville was like home to him. Doug's father, John, retired from the Navy in 1974 when he and his wife (Doug's mom :), Loretta, also chose this area to live and work. John worked in the teaching, administration, and technology fields in the K-12 schools until 1998 and Loretta owned and operated a beauty shop for many years; both are now retired in the Berryville area and very active in their church.
Debbie, Doug's wife, works in the Berryville Schools system as the High School secretary. They have two children, Chandra, who after graduating from the MAT program, University of Arkansas, teaches Business Education (VOED) in the Green Forest Public Schools and is currently working on her Administration certification, with her husband, Donnie, who works for Cox Communications, and Jimmy, who owns an Allstate Agency in Little Rock, with his wife Janet, who serves the state as Assistant Secretary of State in Little Rock. Doug and Debbie have four grandchildren: Aaron, Ashley, Kristen, and Jaelyn.
Dr. Harris pastors the Moore Free Will Baptist church located on Highway 21 about 6 miles south of Berryville, formerly taught graduate and undergraduate classes in the Educational Technology program at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, served as District Director of Grants, Federal Programs, and Information Services for the Berryville Public School system, and does limited consulting work. He currently holds the position of Director of Federal Programs and Curriculum for the Berryville School District. Dr. Harris holds several graduate and undergraduate degrees and is very busy with speaking engagements and workshops.
